Provided is a selection of information all about Katavi. A short history of the park since its beginnings as part of the Bismarck Hunting Reserve in 1911. There are introductions to Katavi's abundant species of flora and fauna. Katavi contains over 50 species of large to medium mammal species, and a full list of these can be seen in the checklist section along with a checklist of the over 500 species of birds that can be found in the park. Also find out about the Katavi-Rukwa ecosystem, the heart of one of Tanzania's most important wildlife areas. Large floodplains can be observed in the park, most provided for by the Katuma river which feeds Lake Katavi in the North and Lake Chada in the center as well as the huge Katisunga floodplain.
